NOV 19: “BEAUJOLAIS AND BEYOND”

21st Annual Beaujolais Festival
Hosted by the French-American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles

WHO: The French-American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles carries out the time-honored tradition of welcoming the Beaujolais Nouveau to the Southland for an evening of sumptuous wine-tasting that is complimented by an array of fine French foods, beverages, and a silent auction that includes a trip to France.

WHAT: The 21st annual Beaujolais Food and Wine Festival is the Los Angeles premiere tasting of the 2004 Beaujolais Nouveau which will have just arrived from France the day before for worldwide tasting. It is the largest of its kind on the West Coast, attracting wine connoisseurs and Francophiles alike from West Los Angeles to the Valley to Orange County.

WHY: Beginning as early as the 19th century, the wine-growers of the Beaujolais region would sell their harvest early. Then in the early 1950’s after the Second World War it became chic all around the world to consume Beaujolais wines before the aging process began. It was in 1985 that the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau would formally take place on the third Thursday of November each year. The Beaujolais Nouveau is red with violet hues and has a distinctive fragrance of red grapes, small red fruits, and floral scents.

WHEN: Friday, November 19, 2004 from 6:30pm – 10:00pm
$45 for FACC and EABA members and $65: includes food, wine, entertainment, and all event-related activities.
